Shrine for Teddy No. 1.

Thread, Vintage Blanket, Vintage Lace Fabric, Batting, 98 cm x 48 cm. 

This work was created using vintage blanket and fabric given to me by my friend Marguerite, a terrific supporter of my art practice.  Her beloved late mother enjoyed clothing and textiles and had a stash of beautiful fabrics when she died.  My friend thought I would be able to make use of this exquisite lace fabric. I chose it to edge this work and left a piece on the bottom with the original edging, to give it a free floating effect.  The folk embroidery design in the centre was inspired by templates from The Needlewoman vintage magazine.
